Happy Halloween

Querida Hermana Nielsen,
 
Como fue su semana pasada?  Espero que bien.  Nosotros la pasamos muy bien aca.  I am trying to remember what happened last week.  Cody had a home football game against Dayton and they won 42-0.  So  we play Spring Creek this Thursday at home for the final regular season game.
 
On Saturday, Cody and I went deer hunting.  We called President Jones and went in on his land from the Lamoille side.  We hiked all the way back in on the North Fork of Cold Creek back to where all the guides with horses pack in and make their camps.  It was about 8 + miles back in there and we saw about 25 does and fawns.  Not one single buck.  Overall we hiked 16.25 miles according to my fitbit device I am now wearing.  We were both dead tired coming back out and Cody had blisters on his feet and my feet and calves where hurting.  My calves were starting to cramp up.  We basically hiked for about 10 hours straight.  Cody did not want to have tag soup on both his tags.  His hunt ends tomorrow.  I guess Summer will have to put meat in the freezer this winter.  Her hunt ends Nov. 2nd in area 7.
 
Yesterday was a busy day.  I had my meeting before church, then church.  I did the tithing after the meetings and President Hirst wanted Cody and I to go to the spanish branch, we did that.  Then I had to go pick up Elder Lourcher from the 2nd ward (He goes home this week) and we went over to hear Lois, a 4-5 month convert received her Patriarchal blessing.  It was really good.  Then we had Lois and the lady she is living with in the 1st ward and the sister missionaries over for dinner afterwards.  Sister Valele goes back to temple square this week. 
 
And we were not done with dinner when the youth and leaders showed up for a bishops youth discussion at our house at 6 pm.  We watched a BYUI devotional that Amber told me about from the Rexburg ID temple president.  It was really good, and I think the kids enjoyed it.  He talked about the intanglements of sin and how it is far better to never sin and sin and repenting latter.  He was a great speaker.
 
Then we had our family home evening.  So no day a rest for us.  Summer will try out for the Adobe basketball team this week.
 
It was a pretty uneventful week, and I can't remember much of what else happened.

 

I am including a part of Sister Jensen's email about Laie Hawaii that I thought was very interesting:

 

On Monday evening, we attended Family Home Evening for missionaries in the
area. The PCC president, Pres. Grace, a middle aged man who worked his way up
the ranks, spoke to us about the mission of the Polynesian Cultural Center. He
is a Maori from New Zealand and has a distinct accent. The PCC is an entity of
the church that is directly overseen by the First Presidency. One quote I'd
like to share from him was very impressive..."While in a meeting with Elder M.
Russell Ballard, the apostle commented that the Lord regularly visits Laie. He
doesn't do that with other places because he is very busy. When the church
opens up in Asia and China it will be because of what is going on in Laie."
Those of you who have been here or lived here know what a special place Laie
is and we know we are so blessed to be here.

 
We had a group of ranchers and other interested parties from this area ride horses from the California coast to Washington DC in protest of how the government is treating the land for the ranchers.  One guy, an attorney here and member of the east state, Grant Gerber, was riding in that and in Kansas, his horse hit a ground hog hole and fell over and Grant bumped his head.  He got it checked in St. Louis and they said he was fine, so he continued on to D.C.  On the way back he was getting bad head aches and stopped in Wyoming to get checked again and they said he was bleeding on the brain.  They took him to SLC and operated on him on Thursday and he passed away on Sat. night. So that was sad.  He was a member of the stake presidency when Duane Holmes was stake president before we got here.

Adelaide is 5!

Hola Hermana Nielsen,

Make sure you delete that extra record for Cleon in Family Search.  All of his temple work has been done.  This past week, we have been sharing the flu bug. Adalaide started throwing up on Tuesday night.  Cody and Summer were throwing up on Thursday night and mom and Adelaide were throwing up on Friday night. Cody and Summer stayed home from school on Friday and Cody did not travel with the football team to South Tahoe.  But Elko won any way 49-28.  The game was very long with tons of penalties.  Ms Rodgers and Lynette Davis were announcing the game and he got more of his name mentioned for tackles than when he actually played.  They said, Cody Nielsen caused that fumble and Cody Nielsen was in on that tackle, while he was laying on the couch sick.  We got a good laugh over that one.

Carly had her last PAL bball game this week, she scored 1 basket.  Summer was sick all day on Friday, but ran in her track meet on Sat. and got a PR in the mile. 6:27 and won 1st place.  So that was good.  Cody and I went deer hunting on Sat. and hiked up almost to the top of the Ruby Mtns and, but we only saw about 30 does and fawns.  No bucks.  There are a lot more hunters out this year.  We saw about 10 other hunters.  He only has one more Sat. to hunt. His season is only open 13 days and with football that only gives us 2 saturdays.

BYU lost to UNR this weekend, without Their quarterback, they are pretty bad.  He broke his leg.  Cody finally sent in his eagle application.  I had to work late on Monday, Tuesday and Wed. finishing up all those tax returns.  But I got them done.  You got a refund of about $400.

Elko football team is in 2nd place behind Fallon and they play Dayton and Spring Creek at home the next 2 weeks.  I still think with different coaching, we could have beaten Fallon.  Oh well.

We hope you have a great week.  Work hard, and study the language!  You only have 8 months remaining. Addie wanted 5 presents as she is 5 years old.  For her bday, mom made biscuits and gravy and when Addie got up and saw what was for breakfast, she said, I wanted eggs, but this is ok, I like it.

She is quite the character.  Enjoy your week, we were suppose to go to the temple on sat. but a few of the people could not go and with Cody being sick, I canceled it on Friday.

Happy Birthday Chelsea!

Como esta?  How is every thing going?   Last week went by extremely fast.  I taught my class on Monday night, Carly had a pal game on Tuesday.  On Wed. I got up at did the paper routes for the kids and left at 6 am to go to Reno for a Conference. It was pretty uneventful.  The lady I went to reno with was sick all night the night before, so I drove the entire way.  We came back on Friday and she dropped me off in Winnemucca for Codys football game.  But around noon on Friday, I started feeling sick to my stomach. I was cold and shivering before the game every started.  But when I got home, my stomach was churning. I went to bed and was up most of the night with the rocky mountain quick step.  But it was bad, it was like water running through me.  So Sat. I was in the chair and on the toilet all day.  Oct. 15 is this week and I still have about 5 or 6 tax returns to finish.

Codys team beat Lowry 21-0.  So they are in 2nd place behind Fallon.  The volleyball team is undefeated in league play.  Elko's girl soccer team is struggling.  They lost to spring creek last week 2-0.  I think they have a losing record.  Summer's deer hunt started about 10 days ago and cody's starts Wed. So we are going to try to get out hunting some time soon.  This Sat. mom and I are going to the temple in SLC with 2 new converts and 1 recent activation.  So that will be like what you are doing.

Well, mom told you about the 2 birthdays this week.  I can't believe Adelaide is going to be 5 this week.  That is so crazy.  We hope you have a great week this week.  We love you and pray for you all the time.  I can't believe another month has passed. Time is flying by.  Fall is finally here, it has been frosting a little here and is suppose to get cold this week.  Keep working hard, this time you have as a missionary is very short and precious.  We hope you enjoyed all the conference messages.

Homecoming Results

I hope you had a great week.  General conference, like always, was awesome.  We had a good busy week.  I had to teach my accounting class on Monday night, so that got over around 9:30 pm.  We had some home coming activities that we went to this past week. 
 
On Wed. I went out deer hunting with Mason Simons and his dad in area 10 or the Rubies.  His dad could not walk much, so they were hoping I could find them a deer close to the road.  But the Ruby Mtns are no place for someone who can't walk.  We hunted all day and only saw about 5 bucks, but we saw them in areas where we were hiking and trying to push them down to the hunters with guns, which the buck always went up over the hills.  We were on Mason's dad's 4 wheelers and they were only 2 wheel drive.  So I tried to make it up this steep part and I got about 3/4 of the way up hill and the 4 wheeler stopped and my back tires were just spinning.  so I stopped it, and got off holding on to the brake as it was going to roll down hill.  I tried to push the back end around so I could ride it down hill going forward not backward and when I got the back end around, it started sliding down hill.  I had the brake on, but it was still sliding and pulling me down hill with it.  I did not let go as the 4-wheeler would have gone crashing down the mountain.  So I was being drug and slidding down hill with the 4 wheeler until it came to a stop.  But it pulled my arm out of the socket and my shoulder was killing me the entire time after that.  We never did get them a shot, but it was fun being out and seeing new country.
 
I still went to basketball on Thurs. morning, but my shoulder was very sore.  Thur. afternoon, we went to the assembly for the homecoming.  Nate Klekas won home coming king.  But Cody was the best candidate. Thursday, Carly also had her bball game, she made 2 baskets and had lots of good passes.  Friday was the big home coming game against Fallon.  Cody had been pumped up all week.  Both teams were undefeated and it would determine who would probably win the league.  Elko scored the 1st 2 touchdowns and we were up 14-0 and out playing them.  Fallon scored with 25 seconds to go in the 1st half, and that was a big momentum changer.  Fallon came out and scored again twice and was ahead 18-14 for the majority of the 2nd half and we could not move the ball very well.  Coach running the same running plays that were not working.  Any way, Elko lost 25-14.  Cody was made after the game as the Elko players he said had given up.  Fallon could not run the ball on us, but they passed it very well.  Hopefully, we will meet them again.
 
BYU lost as well to UTah state, and BYU's quarterback, Tayson Hill broke his leg.  BYU was ranked 18th in the nation.  Sat. we went to Summers track meet.  Summer won the mile with a time of 6:37 and her 4x100 relay team took 3rd.  So that was good for a 7th grader.  There were about 5 schools there.
 
Cody took the Zizler girl to the home coming dance.  They went to dinner at wingers and then after the dance went to our church and play clue with real people.  He said it was fun.  Reagan Goulding and Kyra Smith and their dates were in their group. 5 couples total.
 
We were able to watch the sat. afternoon and the sunday sessions in our home.  They were all great.  My aunt Donna died on Friday.  Dad's brother Loudell's wife.  I would like to go over to the funeral on Tomorrow, but we will see.
