Querida Hermana Nielsen,
Well how was this week. Our week was good. Monday I had to teach my accounting class. That should be the last time for this semester. On Tuesday, Cody had his baseball banquet. Cody got the team academic award and MVP for offensive player of the year for the team, 1 of 3. So that was good. They have had a good year. They had to forfeit one of their wins against Truckee and one of their pitchers pitched too many innings. Other wise they would be tied for 1st place with Fallon in the league. But Fallon would win the tie breaker, so it did not matter much.
Summer had a softball game on Monday and Wed. and Friday. Her team still has not won any games. But they have been close in a lot. She has been pitching and does pretty well. On Friday she played catcher and left field. She does pretty well for not having much experience.
On Friday, Cody played a double hitter against Dayton and they won both games by the 10 run rule. Cody went 3 for 5 or 4 for 6 in those games at the plate. On Sat. he went 3 for 4 and Elko won 10 to 0 on senior day. There are 5 seniors on the Elko baseball team. They announced that both Jacob and Cody were going on their missions after they graduate to their respective countries. So that was good. On Sat. after the game, I came home and mowed the lawn and tried to clean up the house and get ready for mom's birthday on Sunday.
Sunday was good, mom picked up the 4 Filipinos kids and took them to church, then they 3 younger ones spent the day here playing until about 6 pm. The mom was working again. We were suppose to have another discussion with them on Friday and on Sat. but both appointments fell through. Typical life as a missionary.
Mom turned the big 49 yesterday. We all helped out and made dinner and dessert. We had the missionaries over and the little Filipino family girls for dinner.
We look forward to talking to you next week on Sunday for Mother's day. Mom gets two Sundays in a row to be treated like a queen. You will have to let us know what time you want to skype with us on Sunday. We love you and look forward to our skype visit. Keep working hard and sprint to the finish line.
Cody and the team go to Dayton, NV this Friday and Sat. for Regionals. We play South Tahoe at 11:30 am on Friday. We have to win 2 games to go to vegas the following week for state. We can't believe Cody's high school sports career is coming to an end. We enjoy all our our kids and their sporting and musical events.
Have a super week. We love you. I am studying Tagalog with Cody. We down loaded an app and we are learning a bunch of phrases and we do pretty well on the tests. It is a fun language to learn. Some similarities to spanish, but not too much.

Dearest Hermanita Nielsen,
Well, I turned the big 49 yesterday. It was a good day--fasting, testimony mtg, which Cody and I bore our testimonies. He said in his testimony that he had been reading section 135 in D&C, which they are studying in seminary this year and he had really gained a testimony of Joseph Smith and all that he had sacrificed for the gospel. It was really good. He is quite prepared for his mission. He found an App that teaches Tagalog and he has been learning a lot. Dad has really gotten into it too and they were practicing yesterday and taking the little quizzes. Dad said he wants to learn some greetings, I guess so he can say to people,"Good morning,... your armpits stink!" I picked up the little Filipino girls again for church and and they came over afterwards for dinner, accept the older one, she had to babysit her nephew, but the little ones love it here. They play with Adelaide and they were dressing up and talking with each other. They have been here in the US less than a year, but they were rattling away in English with Addie. They speak Tagalog between each other. They are so shy they don't say anything to me, even when I say good bye, they just smile or ignore me. Yesterday, when they were playing outside, the little one came in and walked right up to me and said, "Carly's throwing poop at us." It kind of threw me off because I hadn't heard her say anything in English and clear as day she says that to me. I had told Carly to go out and pick up Chicapoop, so that no one stepped in it, but I hadn't expected her to be doing that. We had dinner and the missionaries came too. Cody, Dad and Summer helped cook it. We saw Cameron Perkins at church yesterday, he looks really good and a little lost, his family sure seemed happy to have him home. His mom was just smiling. He said it's much quieter in Elko than what he is used to and so much space is kind of different.
Cody had a little mishap yesterday after church. We were in the parking lot and Summer spotted a lizard, so Cody thought he would catch it, and with his cat-like reflexes he reached down to try to grab it and he totally ripped out the seat of his pants! or I should say Dad's pants. Dad doesn't fill the bum out as much as Cody. He inherited the Croft "roundy-bum".
Tuesday, Cody had his Baseball Banquet. The season isn't over, but they wanted to do it before things got crazy busy trying to schedule a time with all the things that happen at the end of the year. Cody was one of 3 offensive MVP awards, and he was the sole Academic award winner. Coach Gilly said that this kid is never seen looking at his phone in class and tells the other boys to quit messing around so they can get done and he can get home and work on his paper or study for his test. That was a great and true compliment. Cody is now the total package. He's added smarts to his qualities.
I hosted Bookclub on thurs. I served this salad--Steak and Mango salad that Chelsea had shared with me and it was really good. Sis. Sandall had told me she was coming, but she never showed up and then she called me later to tell me that she had totally forgot! and she was really disappointed. She asked what I had made and then she sounded really disappointed. I had some leftovers, so I took her a plate and some of the dessert and she was surprised and really appreciative.
Summer had 3 softball games this week. She pitched in one, and she does OK but she hasn't really been coached on how to really whip it from the hip. Some of the other girls on the other teams are really fast pitchers. Her team hasn't won a game this year and from what Summer has said she heard they haven't won a game in 7 years. ????
Adelaide did a funny thing last week. For some reason she wanted to help me put on my jammie bottoms, so she was holding them out for me to put me feet in. Then she wanted to brush my teeth and wash my face. I told her this was good practice for her because someday she might be doing this stuff for me for reals.
