Snow on Spring Break

Hola Hermana Nielsen,

Como te va?  Espero que todo ande bien contigo y tu companera.  We are all doing fine here.  It rained and snowed last Wed. and Friday here and yesterday we woke up to 2 inches of snow.  The kids start their spring break this week.  Last week on Tuesday, Elko played spring creek in baseball and we won, but Cody did not play at all.  His coach said until he gets glasses he is useless to him.  So we will have to try and get an eye appointment for him.  He and the choraliers are in Florida this week enjoying the warm temperatures.  We have not heard much from him.

On Wed. I had to drive down to Round Mtn high school to meet with students.  It snowed on me the entire trip down.  Coming back it cleared up a bit, but I was not expecting snow.  I missed the turn off to Carlin and tried to turn the college car around in the median of the highway and got stuck.  I was there for about 10 minutes trying to get out of an illegal turn around in the median of the highway.  It was loose gravel and such and I had the front tires buried up to the axle.  Finally I was able to back up down the to the bottom and then I gassed it and got out.  I was afraid a highway patrol man was going to have to get me out with a ticket.

The baseball team played Lowry here over the weekend 2 games without Jacob and Cody and Elko won 2 out of the 3 games which is good.  I have been busy on taxes, I am starting to panic a little at this point as I only have 2 weeks left.  I was feeling good about things 2 weeks ago and now I am buried.  

Monday was Cody's bball banquet and he got the 6th man award, which was appropriate and good.  Klekas said he needs to shot like his dad and not his mom, and he will be a lot better player.  I enjoyed that, and mom didn't like it at all.

March madness is going on and I love that.  The final 4 are Wisconsin, Florida, Uconn and Kentucky.  Florida is the only #1 seed left in the group.  

Church was good yesterday, but we only had a few people in church, around 100.  Everyone is gone on spring break.

Well keep up the good work.  Sierra's younger sister wants to be baptized now, but her step dad is against that.  I think her mom and sister would all get baptized if it were not for the step dad.

We love you and pray that you are doing fine.  I am going to send a spanish text book to you for you to go through and study the chapters.  You need to learn the proper grammar and that only comes from the text books, not reading the liahona.  You should be studying the grammar and verb conjugations for at least an hour a day and probably more.

Tell you comp. hola de nosotros.  She seems like she is really nice.  The Elko east stake president, President Bowman has been called as the mission president in Honduras.  I am not sure how many missions there are there, but tell you companion that.

Dearest Hermana Nielsen,

Yes, It is  the start of spring break this week and of course, we woke up to 2 in. of snow yesterday.  Cody is in Florida on the Choralier trip and so I bet that made them all happy to know it had snowed in Elko.  We don't hear much from him.  I think that means he's having a great time.  I heard (from another parent, of course) that they had had a tornado warning and so their day to go to the waterpark got cancelled and so they had to stay at the hotel.  They go to Disneyworld today.  Oh, on a side note... they got 2nd in every catagory, except the show choir took 1st in the competition.  Did you know that AJ went along since he's in the show choir?  He also is the page turner.  That kid knows how to work his charm.  He should be getting his mission call this week.  I'm sure Nancy is ecstatic!

Week in review:

Monday we went to Cody's basketball banquet, it was at the Red Lion as usual.  We sat by the Smiths and also the Nelsons who we learned are in the 4th ward.  Their sons are Tyrell  and Isaiah (frosh basketball)  They are both in Choraliers too. I didn't know them or their kids.  Tyrell is going to allstate so that makes 21 out of 30 LDS.  They were a nice family, kind of quiet though, maybe it just seemed that way since the Smiths were so chatty.  Cody got the 6th man award, which seemed appropriate.  Klekas said some nice things about him.  He said Cody's contribution to the team was intangible-- that he does a lot of things that don't show up in stats, like play solid defense and not get pushed around.  He also said he needed to shoot more...like his Dad and not his Mom, SAY WHAT?  I couldn't believe he  said that!  I gave him a look and then he said, I  use to play with them in the mornings and that I was pretty good.  He covered himself with that.  Brandon got the Indian Award, Marshall got the Duke Award (he had his elbow surgery and it went really well, so things look good for next year) Brian Pearson got the Defense award for all his blocked shots and of course Nathan got MVP (deservedly). 

Summer, Carly, Amber and I went to the Womens' broadcast on Sat. night  That was good.  Then we we went to Mason Carroll's wedding reception.  Sunday we had the 1st ward sisters and the 3rd ward Elders over for dinner.  The transfer info was coming that night, so they asked us if they could receive the email here at our house.  The Elders are the zone leaders.  That was kind of interesting to see how they reacted to everyones transfers and companionships.  Sister Bradley has been here for 9 mos and will be transferred to Sparks. Her name is Arden (we couldn't guess, she had to tell us).  Sister Messervy has also been here that long too and is going to Reno area.

The Missionaries gave us a refresher of the Willing and Brief Program and we set goals as families and as a ward.  Dad committed us to 15 invitations this month. (!)  I made one this morning already, but was rejected.  Amber explained the success is in the invitation, right?

Adelaide and the other girls love the movie Frozen, disney's latest animated movie.  It is absolutely daring.  Did you see it before you left?  Addie sings the songs all the time.  She knows all the words!  Shhh, we are getting the DVD for Easter.  Last night she was climbing all over me during Scriptures and she was tired and wanted to relax and she was trying to rub my belly and driving me crazy and I said,  "I'm tired of you climbing all over me, and she shot back, "Well, I'm tired of you not letting me rub your belly!" Some kids suck their thumb, other twirl locks of hair to soothe themselves, Adelaide is a belly rubber.  At least you played with your own belly.
