Trip to Utah

Hola Hermana Nielsen,

Como estas?  Como anda todo?  How is your spanish coming along?  Do you have a spanish text book that you are studying out of every day?  We pray that you are learning the language and being able to add your input to the charlas.  We are all doing fine here.  I am busy with taxes and work.  Summer is going to play softball this year and she starts practice this wed.

Cody's baseball team went to south tahoe this past weekend and they won their game on Friday and last both on Sat.  So that is not a good way to start their season.  He went like 1 for 8, he keeps striking out as he says he needs glasses to see the ball.  So we are going to try and take him in today.  He has his bball banquet tonight.  He had his interview with Klekas for bball last week and he said it went surprisingly well.  He told Cody he doesn't realize how much he means to the team.

Cody went to a new member discussion with Sierra last night and it was good.  Her younger sister went to church with her yesterday.  She got her temple recommend interview  for limited access to temple. She wants her patriarchal blessing as well.  I think she is following in Whits footsteps.  Cody told us, she shared a story last night about her mother.  She could not find something this past week and she remembered my talk on the holy ghost and a story I shared, so she went down into the basement and prayed and as soon as she stopped praying, she had a thought come into her mind where the thing was and she looked there and there it was.  An answer to her prayers.  So Sierra is really excited about that.  We want to have her and her family over for dinner.

Cody leaves for Florida with the choraliers this wed.  He is excited about that.

We went to Utah for stake temple day on sat. but we went to the jordan river temple.  Then me and my siblings all got together to try and divide all the things in mom and dads house.  We think we are going to sell it as it is too big for Charlene to take care of.  But it was a fun time and felt like old times.  I am sure mom and dad were there as all there children were together.

March madness has started and there has been some big upsets.  Duke got beat the first game and so did BYU.  I love all the upsets, that is what makes it fun.

We came home yesterday and got to church about 1 minute before it started and I was conducting, so that was lucky.

Well have a great week, we love you and are happy you are serving a mission.

Have a great week.

Love DAD

Dearest Hermana Nielsen

You are 3 mos. into your mission, that's incredible, already at the 1/6 mark.  How do you feel about your Spanish?  Are you able to communicate better each week?  What kind of food do you eat?  I will send you a package with your Drivers' License.  Is there anything else you want?  Did you know Mathew Johnson is going to Lima- West?  We went to Steven Johnson's wedding reception last night which they held conveniently in their reception hall.  It was also our stk. temple day, so that was great for all the Elko people to be able to go and do both on the same day.  We (dad and I ) got up and did the papers yesterday and then by the time we left it would have been out of the way to drive the little girls all the way to Grandma's and then go back to the SL temple, so we went to Jordan River.  Amber wanted to see the live ceremony at the SL temple, but she did some initiatories and then Sis.Wright picked her up and took her to Provo while we were finishing up our session.  She will stay there for a few days and have her EFY councilor interview on Tues.  from there we will figure out how she will get home.  Possibly the train or there is a Wendover Fun Gambling bus that leaves Provo on Wed.  Sarah and Jordan were in town and Sharon was taking their family to the zoo and they invited our girls to go.  They had never been to the zoo, so they enjoyed that.
Dad and the rest of the siblings had a little meeting to decide who wanted what and to do a bit of cleaning out.  I think they are going to sell the house.  Charlene thinks its too big for her and it is kind of lonely being in there without Gram and Gramp.  Jana told a good story while we were over there.  She said there was a couple from ID Falls that submitted their mission papers, but they put specifically that they weren't in the best health and a call close to their home would probably be best and proselytizing mission was probably not a good idea.  Well, they were called to Florida, about as far away stateside as they could go.  On newly arriving there, the mission pres. told them to go start tracting doors.  So, they did and that first day they knocked on a door and their daughter answered the door.  They hadn't had any contact with this woman for 30 yrs.

Amber is getting closer to finding a job.  I called a gal to come over and give me a haircut; Crystal Bjork had given me her name.  Turns out she works at RPT and said they had just hired another therapist and would be needing another aide.  She went down and turned in an application, so we will see what happens.  We are still praying for kids to be put on probation so that the other job will get started.
Lenny spoke in our ward today.  Dad was in charge of finding speakers this month, so he had him give his homecoming address.
He is doing great...still kind of lost, but according to Elder Bednar if you come home and find the adjustment difficult that means you were a good missionary.
We had a family 4-h activity on Mon. night.  It was a St. Patrick's day scavenger hunt.  We had to drive around and take pictures of certain things on a list related to St. Pat's day.  Such as green shutters, a rainbow of some kind, a white lawn statue etc. We had to have a picture of a dog barking from a window.  We were in the Welch's neighborhood, so were went to their house and got a picture of Thor from the window, he wouldn't bark though.  It was fun.  We came in 7th , out of 8.
Cody asked Kassi Gibbons to prom.  He mailed her Harry Potter themed  invite, she hasn't answered yet. He leaves Wed. for the Choralier trip to Florida.  He is looking forward to it.  He and Am have been doing some ab workouts.  19 out of the 30 Choraliers who made all-state were LDS kids. I'll send the newspaper article.
I love you dearly,
Mom                           P.S.   Pleeeeeease tell me the scripture you want on your plaque!
